What it is
Aware Lens Livestream is live streaming for public meetings, with live captions, built into Aware Lens. Your town streams from the encoder it already uses. Residents attend on the town’s Aware portal on any phone or computer — no app, no account. When the meeting ends, the recording becomes a fully accessible meeting record automatically, alongside the rest of your archive.
Who it is for
Municipal clerks, town administrators, IT staff, and accessibility coordinators who are responsible for putting meetings online and keeping them accessible. There is no scheduling, no file upload, and no post-production: on meeting day it is three buttons — Prepare, Start Stream, End Stream — and the town decides who can start a stream through its existing Aware Lens team roles.
Accessible in real time, and after
Three things matter for a public meeting. First, live captions are generated automatically and stay synchronized to the speaker, so residents who rely on captions follow along in real time rather than seconds behind. Second, the viewer is in control — captions turn on or off, and the player is keyboard-operable and screen-reader friendly. Third, every stream is recorded and processed into the same accessible record as any Aware Lens meeting: corrected captions, a synced transcript, audio description, and a plain-language summary, searchable next to your archive. Live captions support WCAG 1.2.4 during the meeting; the recording covers the prerecorded criteria. It supports your ADA Title II and Section 508 obligations for live and recorded meetings.
Works with what you have
Livestream works with any RTMP encoder — OBS Studio, hardware encoders, or a meeting-room system — and setup is one server address and one stream key. If your town already broadcasts on YouTube, optional YouTube simulcast keeps that audience with the same stream, using one setting and no second encoder. Streams are accepted only from your registered location and a private stream key, which you can rotate at any time.
How to see it
Book a short demo and we will go live on your own portal, show the captions keeping pace, and hand back the accessible recording. Read more on the Aware Lens Livestream page, or request a demo.
