Captions, audio description, transcripts and summaries for a recording can all be corrected afterward. Live captions can’t — WCAG 1.2.4 (Level AA) asks for real-time captions during the meeting. Aware Lens Livestream generates them automatically and keeps them synchronized to the speaker, so residents who rely on captions follow along in real time, not seconds behind. It supports your ADA Title II and Section 508 obligations for live and recorded public meetings.

Stop when the meeting adjourns. The recording is saved automatically and begins processing into your accessible archive.

What encoder do we need to stream a meeting?
Any RTMP encoder works — OBS Studio, a hardware encoder, or a meeting-room system. Setup is one server address and one stream key; there’s no new equipment to buy if you already stream or record.
Do residents need an app or an account to watch?
No. Residents attend the meeting in any browser on a phone, tablet or desktop — nothing to install, no account to create. Captions are there for any viewer who turns them on. The Aware Access apps for iPhone, Android and Apple TV are coming next.
What happens if our internet connection drops?
If the signal is lost for an extended period, or the stream reaches its maximum length, it ends itself — and the recording is saved either way. Nothing is lost, and the recording still becomes an accessible meeting record.
Can we keep our existing YouTube channel?
Yes. Optional YouTube simulcast sends the same meeting to your existing YouTube audience with one setting and no second encoder, so residents who already watch there can keep doing so.
How soon is the recording available?
The recording appears in your town’s meeting list after the meeting and is processed into the same accessible record as every other Aware Lens meeting — corrected captions, a synced transcript, audio description and a plain-language summary — searchable alongside your archive.

It supports your compliance obligations for live and recorded public meetings. Live captions are synchronized to the speaker to address WCAG 1.2.4 (Level AA) during the meeting, and the recording is processed into an accessible record for the prerecorded criteria. Aware Lens supports your ADA Title II and Section 508 efforts — it does not by itself guarantee compliance.
